I’ve had two memorable encounters with Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett, one with Dennett alone, the other with both together. The first was with Dennett alone. In 1999, my good friend Paul Nelson and I were doing some tag-team talks on intelligent design in the Boston area at MIT and Tufts. The talk at Tufts, Dennett’s university, was in the evening, so we had some time beforehand. We therefore decided to attend Dennett’s philosophy of science seminar, which was taking place late that afternoon.
I recently encountered one of the top tech writers on the planet praising Dennett who recently died. It is Andrew McAfee, author of "The Geek Way" and “More from Less;" coauthor of "The Second Machine Age;" proponent of human and planetary flourishing.
Here’s what he said about Dennett on his twitter feed: “If you read Dennett and didn’t find that it influenced your thinking, you’re probably not a very good thinker.”
So I find it interesting that a top technology thinker finds Dennett’s atheism thinking interesting. Dennett wrote extensively about Evolution and in his writings, he deceived and lied. Why do they have to hide Truth and then others praise this deception?
