Thanks George. I would be interested in her reaction, but at the same time I don't want to seem pushy. That said, you are certainly welcome to alert her to my piece ...

A simpler rebuttal to Dawkins' accusations against God:

We focus so intently on death -- and ascribe all death as evil. Yet to God our souls are what is material and our bodies immaterial. All will experience death. Judging one type of death better or worse, too soon, or too tragic is, frankly, a material/world-centric view that misses the big picture. Indeed all those faithful who were not swallowed by the earth, or whose bodies were not dismembered and parts sent to all the tribes of Israel -- still died. Perhaps too young or in some horrible fashion.

God's commands and actions show that death is not the ultimate concern. Purifying His people, even and especially through death and sacrifice, shows the importance of eliminating all evil from our lives in order to be able to approach God. And the fact that they (and we) still fail shows how all are still unworthy to approach a perfect God. Choosing to follow or reject God is far more important than "mere" bodily death.

Rejecting God is spiritual death. The death of the body is nothing by comparison.
